Step 2- Complete a Notary Public Application

Visit the FirstStop Portal on the North Dakota Secretary of State's website to complete your notary public application. Be sure to print your application before moving on to the next step.

Step 3- Appear before a commissioned notary public

Sign both your notary application and notary bond in the presence of a commissioned notary public before mailing them to the Secretary of State's office.

Step 4- Mail your documents

Mail your notarized application, notarized oath of office, and the $36 application filing fee to the secretary of state at:

Step 5- Submit an impression to the secretary of state

Once your application is approved, you will receive a Certificate of Authorization to Purchase Notary Stamping Device and a Verification of Notary Stamping Device form.
